Today was our granddaughter’s birthday and while we were with family celebrating, I stood back for a moment and just watched. I noticed how lucky each of us are as a family. We have so much love that we share for each other and for our children and grandchildren.
We are each indeed blessed and I am thankful for all of them. I am thankful for Cody, his parents and sister. I am thankful for the love they have for Vanessa and Rebecca and the love that we have for each other.
As I watched today, though I started watching other families around us. I saw a few argue. I saw many playing on their phones or off in adult groups just talking. All of those moments that they we missing right before their eyes made me realize that many probably would have a hard time listing the things that they love.
Real quick, in your mind list the things that you love.
What was the first thing that came to mind? Was it hard to come up with more than one or two?
Many find it easy to come up with a list of things that are disliked, with things that get your goat or even things that are hated. At this very moment, I request that you each stop reading and challenge yourself to think of the things that you love.
What is it that you have loved about this day? Even if it may have been a bad day, there is love in it somewhere. What was it? What do you love about your family, your friends, your faith, your work and about life in general? What is it that stops your heart and makes you smile? What is it that lifts you above the clouds?
Reflect on the good things that are going good for you and let the things that are not go for a bit. Yes, life has its share of problems but it is filled with things that out weight the negative and there are many wonderful blessings in each of our lives. Appreciate them and give attention to them for when you do the more valuable they become and the more noticeable they become without having to think about them.
Each day think of what you love and what really matters to you and know that you are each very fortunate to have it. Notice it each day and embrace it with all that you are for that is what life is about is it not, the things that we love.
