I want to start with a little story tonight, if you don’t mind.

Once a grandfather shared some of his wisdom with his grandson, he said, “My boy, inside each human being there is a battle that always goes on inside of us. One side is evil, anger, envy, jealously, regret, sorrow, greed arrogance, self-pity, resentment, lies, false pride and ego.

The grandson sat and contemplated what his grandfather had just said and asked, “Which one wins, granddad?” The grandfather simply replied, “The one you feed”.

I want to focus on the envy part of this grandfather’s story. Envy, why do so many waste their time and energy with envy? Why do so many poison their attitudes by being envious? Maybe we should all be inspired rather than being envious.

It is impossible for any of us to become someone else and live someone else’s life. Even if you could, you would find that what you saw as perfect was not reality and I promise that you would not like it. What we should all strive to do is to live our own lives in joy and inspired by the joy that you see in others that you currently envy.

People, your highest and greatest fulfillment comes ONLY from being one thing, YOU! If you like, the life of another then the realistic approach is to emulate it, not envy it. You see, envy is focused on an overwhelming since of limitation. When you are envious, you really push away that which you most admire.

So let us each be thankful for the good fortunes of others and I promise when we do, we can then benefit from that good fortune as well.

Follow your own version of life, be who you are and who you are meant to be lead others by the example that you set.
